Escape from Monkey Iceland (English title Escape from Monkey Iceland ) is the fourth part of the Monkey Iceland - computer game series .

action

To begin with, Elaine and Guybrush Threepwood return from their honeymoon to Mêlée Island , where Elaine is governor. There the two have to find out that Elaine has been pronounced dead and her villa is to be demolished. In addition, new governor elections are to take place. Elaine's competitor is Charles L. Charles, who is actually LeChuck in a different guise. Meanwhile, Guybrush goes to Lucre Island to talk to Elaine's lawyers who are supposed to save the Marley's property. Guybrush meets Ozzie Mandrill, among others, who wants to build up the tourism industry in the Caribbean and use the ultimate insult to make the pirates of the Caribbean submissive to himself. Back on Mêlée Island , Guybrush learns that he can find the ultimate insult on Jambalaya Island , where he can find the pieces to put them together. On Mêlée Iceland 's LeChuck, who works for Ozzie, have now been elected governor. Together they deprive Guybrush of the ultimate insult and ban him to Monkey Island. Guybrush puts together an ultimate insult in the form of a giant monkey robot, activates it and travels back to Mêlée Island, where Ozzie has now also activated his ultimate insult. Ozzie controls LeChuck, who has transformed into a giant living statue. A fight ensues between the giant monkey robot and the equally large statue, in the course of which LeChuck destroys himself and Ozzie Mandrill.

Game principle and technology

Escape from Monkey Island is a so-called 2.5D adventure. From polygons composite, three-dimensional figures act against pre-rendered , also three-dimensional scenes which are partially supplemented by hand-drawn backgrounds. The game is controlled from a third person perspective . The player Guybrush Threepwood maneuvers through the game world using the keyboard, joystick or gamepad . If he passes interaction points, so-called hotspots, the player has the opportunity to interact with them. Guybrush can examine objects, pick them up and use them elsewhere or communicate with NPCs . Dialogues are based on a multiple choice procedure. By solving puzzles, the action progresses, and as the action progresses, more locations are unlocked. The aging SCUMM system was replaced by the GrimE engine from the LucasArts adventure Grim Fandango . In addition to 3D graphics, this uses the Lua scripting language .
