EuroHockey Club Champions Cup (women, field)
The EuroHockey Club Champions Cup (women's field) is a competition organized by the European Hockey Federation (EHF) in which European women's field hockey champions are entitled to start. In contrast to most European Cup competitions in other sports, the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup, introduced in 1974, is played in tournament form. The tournament, formerly known as the European Cup of National Champions, takes place every year at Whitsun. So far, only representatives from two countries have won the cup, with Dutch clubs doing the most successfully with 36 titles, followed by five successes by German teams. The current title holder is the record winner Amsterdam Hockey & Bandy Club. He won the tournament 13 times, eight times in a row from 1975 to 1982.
Competition mode
Eight teams, each champion of their country, play the title. The participating countries are those whose champions took the first six places in the previous year and the two countries whose clubs had reached the final in the second-rate EuroHockey Club Champions Trophy a year earlier. The two last-placed countries of the cup are relegated to the trophy. The same rules for promotion and relegation apply to the third-rate Challenge I.
