List of geostationary satellites |
Astra 2F is a commercial communications satellite of SES Global based in Betzdorf in Luxembourg .
It was put into geostationary orbit on September 28, 2012 at 21:18 UTC with an Ariane 5 ECA launcher from the Center Spatial Guyanais in Kourou together with GSAT-10 and handed over to the operator on October 11.
Since 2015, Astra 2F has made capacities available to Eutelsat , which are marketed under the satellite name Eutelsat 28F.
The three-axis stabilized satellite with Ku-band - and Ka band - transponders equipped and is on the position 28.2 ° East supply from Africa, Europe and the Middle East with high-resolution television programs. It was based on the Euro E3000 - satellite bus company Astrium built and has a design life of 15 years.
reception
The satellite has three footprints :
- The UK spot beam is centered on Great Britain and is usually much more difficult to receive in German-speaking countries than the UK spot beams of its predecessors, Astra 2D and Astra 1N , as it slopes off more at the edges.
- The Europe-Beam is directed towards the western half of Europe and falls slowly to the east and sharply to the south.
- The West Africa beam can be received on the south coast of West Africa and in the south of Central Africa.
The reception of the satellite is always considerably better at noon than at other times of the day.
