Eutelsat 3B is a communications satellite of the European Telecommunications Satellite Organization ( Eutelsat ) based in Paris. It was in July 2011 when Airbus Defense and Space ordered and based on the satellite bus euro E3000. It has a planned lifespan of 15 years.

Eutelsat 3B was launched into geostationary orbit in the Pacific on May 26, 2014 at 23:09:59 CEST using a Zenit-3SL rocket from Sea Launch's “Odyssey” platform . The separation of the satellite from the upper stage of the rocket took place at 0:10 am and 28 seconds CEST on May 27, 2014. The launch was supposed to take place on April 15, 2014, but when the Zenit rocket was erected as a test, a cross member was caused by a collision of the rocket damaged by a cable pole not moving as planned.

The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with 51 Ku-band , Ka-band and C-band transponders and is to be used from the 3 ° East position from Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and parts of South America (especially Brazil ) with video, data , Telecommunications and broadband services. Thanks to the satellite's ten antennas, Eutelsat can offer telecommunications services with fixed large (Wide Beam) or variable narrow (Spot Beam) footprints in the three frequency bands for national and international markets, with the Ka-band allocating power and spectrum for each individual beam can be scalable.

On July 5, 2014, Eutelsat 3B took over the traffic from Eutelsat 3A and Eutelsat 3D . Eutelsat 3D will be switched to the 7 ° East position and will support the Eutelsat 7A located there under the new name Eutelsat 7B . Eutelsat 3A will be positioned at 8 ° East.
