Telstar 12 is a satellite broadcast of Loral Skynet , based in New Jersey , USA . Originally ordered by Orion Network Systems under the name Orion 2 , the company was bought by Loral Skynet in 1998 along with the satellite under construction. On October 31, 2007, the Canadian company Telesat Canada merged with the US company Loral Skynet.
He was on 19 October 1999 with a launch vehicle of the type Ariane-44LP with H10-3 school still under its original name Orion 2 launched into space. Shortly thereafter, the satellite was renamed Telstar 12 .
The French company Eutelsat rented four of the 38 Ku-band transponders until June 2016.
