Eutelsat 4A was a communications satellite of the European Telecommunications Satellite Organization ( Eutelsat ) based in Paris.
The satellite was launched as Eutelsat W1 on September 6, 2000 on board an Ariane 4 rocket from Center Spatial Guyanais , the spaceport in Kourou , French Guiana . In June 2009 the satellite was moved from 10 ° East to 4 ° East, which also changed the name to Eurobird 4A . On March 1, 2012, Eutelsat standardized the names of its satellites around the brand name, since then it has been called Eutelsat 4A .
In February 2012, Eutelsat 4A was decommissioned and placed in a cemetery orbit.
In addition to broadcasting radio and TV programs, Eutelsat 4A also provided capacities for telecommunications and multimedia services .
