Express AM6 is a commercial communications satellite owned by the Russian Satellite Communications Company .

The satellite was manufactured by ISS Reshetnev (Russia) in cooperation with the Radio Research and Development Institute (Russia) and the MDA Corporation (Canada).

It was launched into space with a Proton launcher from Baikonur on October 21, 2014 , but brought into orbit too low due to a failure of the upper stage. However, the satellite reached geostationary orbit by correcting its orbit with its own drive.

In May 2015, five transponders were leased to Eutelsat , which gave the satellite the name Eutelsat 53A .
