Eutelsat 172A is a communications satellite operated by the satellite operator Eutelsat .
The satellite was on 29 December 2005 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan with a Proton-M carrier rocket with Briz-M upper stage in the space promoted. Broadcasting began in the first quarter of 2006. The satellite was launched under the name AMC-23 and was operated by SES Americom , an SES Global company.
After a while the satellite was sold to General Electric and was named GE-23. He also kept his position. In November 2009 it was taken over again, this time by Eutelsat . It got its current name and was moved to 172 degrees east.
reception
The satellite can be received in North America , Asia , Australia , New Zealand , Indonesia and the islands of the South Pacific .
The transmission takes place in the C and Ku bands .
