Astra 2G is a commercial communications satellite of SES Global based in Betzdorf in Luxembourg .
The satellite was launched into geostationary orbit from the Baikonur rocket launch site on December 27, 2014 at 21:37 UTC with a Proton M / Bris-M launcher .
Since 2015, Astra 2G has made capacities available to Eutelsat , which are marketed under the satellite name Eutelsat 28G.
The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with 62 Ku-band and 4 Ka-band transponders and is intended to provide radio and broadband services from a position of 28.2 ° East from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
