Evert Scheltinga (born October 12, 1987 in Huissen ) is a Dutch duathlete and triathlete . He is national champion in the long distance duathlon (2014).

Career

Evert Scheltinga was active in a running club in his youth and he started endurance sports at the age of 13.

In 2000 he started his first triathlon. He was trained by Menno Oudeman . Both his older brother Diederik Scheltinga (* 1985) and the two younger ones , Cornelis Scheltinga (* 1991) and Bouke Scheltinga (* 1994), are all three active as triathletes.

In April 2014, the trained accountant became the national master of the long distance duathlon.

In July 2017 he finished eighth in his second Ironman start (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in the Ironman European Championship and improved his time by 26 minutes to 8:05:13 h. Two months later, in September 2017, Scheltinga finished fifth at the ETU European Championships on the long-distance triathlon.

He finished fourth at the Challenge Almere-Amsterdam in September 2018.

Evert Scheltinga lives in Arnhem .
