action

The plot of the film begins 4 years after the events of the first film. Father Lamont is to investigate the death of Father Merrin and clarify how it came about that Regan MacNeil was possessed by the demon Pazuzu . Lamont travels to Africa and meets Kokumo, who, like Regan, was also possessed by Pazuzu. The father discovers that the demon wandered around the world in the form of locusts. Regan is attacked by the demon again. Father Merrin appears to Lamont in a vision and asks him to take care of Regan. Lamont travels to Washington with Regan and they manage to defeat Pazuzu together.

criticism

The lexicon of international film ruled that the “beautiful images and colors” could not hide the “weak script”. The film offers "nothing new on the subject".

Awards

The film was nominated for the Saturn Award in the Best Special Effects category. Linda Blair was nominated for Best Actress in the Horror genre, Richard Burton for Best Actor.

background

The film failed to match the success of its predecessor and grossed around 30.7 million US dollars at the box office worldwide. In 1990, Der Exorzist III was a sequel that did not follow the content of this film.
