The F.3 family and leisure pool Fellbach is a public leisure pool in Fellbach , which consists of a combination of indoor pool , outdoor pool and sauna area . It is located on the western outskirts of Fellbach near the Kappelberg .

The F.3 was designed by the Stuttgart architectural office 4a Architekten .

The investment costs amounted to approx. EUR 43 million. The construction was financed by the city of Fellbach, which took out a loan of EUR 30.5 million for this purpose.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 3, 2011. The topping-out ceremony took place on February 28, 2012.

The property and buildings of the pool are owned by the Fellbach municipal holding company . It was made available for 15 years on the basis of a lease and management agreement from the opening of the G1 consulting and purchasing company for pools.

The indoor pool was opened on September 15, 2013. It replaces the old Fellbach indoor swimming pool on Schillerstrasse.

The outdoor pool was opened in the 2014 summer season. It replaces the previous outdoor pool on Untertürkheimer Strasse, which has existed for almost 60 years.

A legal dispute broke out in 2016 over the planting of the outdoor pool area with trees that had died after a short time.

On June 10, 2018, a visitor to the pool was found unconscious on the floor of the outdoor pool. She died in the hospital the same evening. It was the first death in the history of the bathroom.

After bathing operations in Germany largely came to a standstill as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , the baths are to be taken over from the previous owner by Städtische Holding Fellbach on August 1, 2020 . The holding company is to take over the operating company completely.

The F.3 is the only pool in the Stuttgart region with a loop slide with a rocket launch. In Germany there are only a few looping slides, of which the one in F.3 is one of the highest single looping slides.

Visitors can choose between the sports pool or the adventure pool. The outdoor swimming pool is part of the sports area.

The pool is operated by the G1 pool group in Schwabach . The indoor pool and the sauna area are open all year round, the outdoor pool only open in the summer.

To operate the F.3, between 40,000 and 50,000 liters of drinking water are taken from the mains every day . In 2016, test drillings were carried out for an own well.

The bath includes a combined heat and power unit which, in addition to the F.3, also supplies the town hall, the Wichernschule, the Silcherschule, the Schwabenlandhalle and the Rathaus-Carrée in Fellbach.

The sculpture Die Springerin , which the artist Anja Luithle created together with the Sinnwerkstatt , is set up on the forecourt of F.3 .

Visitor numbers

In the first year after the opening, 410,000 visitors came by August 2014. In the first full year of operation 2014, 417,000 visitors came, in 2015 490,000 visitors were counted. Two and a half years after the opening of the indoor pool, the 1,111,111. Counted visitors.

The outdoor pool alone was visited by more than 150,000 guests in the summer of 2015.

Others

The F.3 is the training facility of the Fellbacher Haie swimming department of SV Fellbach . The Moikäfer-Cup , held annually by SV Fellbach, takes place in F.3.

The F.3 training and competition site is also used by TSV Schmiden .

The F.3 is a regular training facility for extreme swimmer Bruno Dobelmann .

The former rhythmic gymnast Christina Tschernischew from TSV Schmiden , who was part of the German national team , also trains in F.3 .

The professional handball players of the TVB 1898 Stuttgart carry out relaxation units in F.3.

On the last opening day of the 2016 outdoor swimming season, F.3 held a dog bathing day for the first time.
