Fabiana dos Santos Moraes (born June 5, 1986 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian hurdler who specializes in the 100 meter distance .

Athletic career

Fabiana Moraes gained her first international championship experience at the South American Youth Championships in Asunción in 2002 , where she finished fourth in the 100 m hurdles with 15.03 seconds. Two years later she won the bronze medal at the U23 South American Championships in Barquisimeto with 14.11 s. In 2006 she won the gold medal in the heptathlon at the U23 South American Championships in Buenos Aires and took fifth place with the Brazilian 4-time 400 Mater relay. In 2005 she took Moraes to the Pan American Junior Championships in Windsor , Canada , where she finished sixth in the final. Then she won the gold medal at the Junior South American Championships in Rosario in wind-assisted 14.01 s. In 2006 she won the silver medal at the Jogos da Lusofonia in Macau and at the U23 South American Championships in Lima .

In 2007 she took part in the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro for the first time and was eliminated there in advance. In 2008 she finished fifth at the Ibero-American Championships in Iquique . In 2009 she won the bronze medal at her first South American Championships in Lima and then the gold medal at the Jogos da Lusofonia in Lisbon . Until 2013 she did not take part in any international championships and again won the bronze medal in 13.21 s at the South American Championships in Cartagena . In 2014 she finished fourth at the South American Games in Santiago de Chile and fifth at the Ibero-American Championships in São Paulo .

In 2015, Moraes again took part in the Pan American Games in Toronto , but did not qualify for the final again. But she qualified for the first time to participate in the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated with 13.35 s in the first round . In 2016 she also qualified indoors for the World Championships in Portland , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round over 60 meter hurdles. In the open air season, Moraes won the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro and qualified for the Olympic Games there , where she was eliminated this time with 13.22 s in the preliminary round. In 2017 she won the gold medal at the South American Championships in Luque and thus received a bye for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated again in the lead with 13.40 seconds .

So far, she has been the Brazilian champion over 100 m hurdles five times.
