Fatumasi ( Fatumasse , Fatomasse ) is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Bazartete ( municipality of Liquiçá ).

Before the 2015 regional reform, Fatumasi had an area of ​​6.79 km². Now there are 5.35 km². The Sucol lies to the west of the administrative office. To the west are the Sucos Metagou and Maumeta , north of the Suco Lauhata , northeast of the Suco Motaulun , southeast of the Suco Fahilebo and south of the Suco Leorema . The Failebo River rises in the northern border area to Fahilebo and flows north towards Lake Sawu . The Hatunapa , which also flows north and is a source of the Carbutaeloa, has its source in the border area to Maumeta .

In the center of Sucos is Bazartete , the main town of the administrative office. The Metir district forms the south of the village . To the northeast are the villages of Fatumasse and Legumea ( Leguimea ) on the main road that connects Bazartete with the northern coastal road. The Suco has two primary schools, a police station, a helipad and a community health center.

The four Aldeias Bazartete , Durubasa , Legumea and Metir are located in the Suco . The place Durubasa is but in Suco Lauhata.

Residents

The Suco has 1,551 inhabitants (2015), of which 755 are men and 796 women. The population density is 290.2 inhabitants / km². There are 279 households in the Suco. Over 74% of the population name Mambai as their mother tongue. Over 12% speak Tetum Prasa , over 11% Tokodede , minorities Baikeno , Tetum Terik , Bekais , Makasae or Kemak .

history

In 1863 there was an uprising in Fatumasi. In the suppression, the Portuguese were supported here by the ruler of Ermera .

In the early 1880s, Fatumasi was an enclave in the Motael empire of the Oecussi empire and produced a lot of coffee.

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian transit camp for East Timorese in the town of Bazartete , who were to be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

In Fatumasi, 70 to 80% of the buildings were destroyed during the Indonesian Operation Donner in 1999 .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Joanico Ribeiro dos Santos elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
