Maumeta is a suco in the East Timorese administrative office of Bazartete ( municipality of Liquiçá ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Maumeta had an area of 6.88 km². Now it is 7.50 km². The Suco is about 30 kilometers west of the state capital Dili , on the coast of the Sawu Sea . In the south is the Suco Metagou , which also belongs to Bazartete , in the southeast Fatumasi and in the east Lauhata . To the west, across the Gularkoo River , lies the Liquiçá administrative office with its Suco Dato . The two headwaters of the Carbutaeloa flow through the southeast : Nunupupolo and Hatunapa . The maximum temperature is 32.5 ° C in November, the lowest temperature in July 22.4 ° C.
The east of the municipality capital Vila de Liquiçá is located directly on the coast of Maumeta. The center is located in the neighboring Liquiçá administrative office on Dato. Vila de Liquiçá is 32 km west of the state capital Dili and has a total of 5152 inhabitants (2010). The place Nartutu ( Nartuto ) is located a little southeast of Liquiçá. Maumeta has a market, a police station and a primary school, the Escola Primaria Maumeta .
The four Aldeias Caimegohou , Darmudapu , Maumetalau and Nartutu are located in the Suco .
Residents
4306 people live in the Suco (2015), of which 2163 are men and 2143 women. The population density is 574.4 inhabitants / km². There are 677 households in the Suco. Over 67% of the population give Tokodede as their mother tongue. 20% speak Tetum Prasa , almost 4% Mambai , almost 3% Kemak , almost 2% Bunak and minorities Galoli , Tetum Terik , Baikeno , Makasae or Waimaha .
history
The then sub-district of Bazartete was the scene of intimidation, rape and murder by members of the pro-Indonesian militia ( Wanra ) Besi Merah Putih during the unrest before and after the independence referendum in 1999 . The primary school in Maumeta was destroyed and only reopened in 2001 for 465 students. In the village, UN investigators discovered eight people killed in a grave. Most of the buildings in Vila de Liquiçá were also damaged. On October 13, an Australian infantry company was stationed in the deserted city to restore order . Only gradually did the residents return.
On January 1 and 2, 2008, severe flooding occurred here and in the neighboring Sucos Dato and Luculai in the Liquiçá sub- district. People were not injured, but 300 families lost their roofs. At the end of January 2012, heavy rains destroyed the school and 18 houses.
politics
In the elections of 2004/2005 was Victor da Silva elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
