Federico Macheda (born August 22, 1991 in Rome ) is an Italian football player .
Career
society
Federico Macheda started playing football at AS Atletico Prenestino when he was seven. From 2001 he was part of the youth department of Lazio Rome . In 2007, the English club Manchester United secured the services of the then 16-year-old talented striker, who was housed in the club's youth boarding school. Macheda prevailed in the Manchester United youth teams and was quickly called up to the reserve team. In August 2008, the attacker signed his first professional contract and was now part of the first team. On April 5, 2009 he made his debut on the Manchester United professional team. In the game against Aston Villa , coach Alex Ferguson replaced him with Nani half an hour before the end . Macheda scored his first goal for Manchester to win 3-2 on this occasion. His second professional game was similarly successful: on April 11, 2009, he scored the 2-1 winner in the game against AFC Sunderland , again after being substituted on.
Federico Macheda was loaned to Sampdoria Genoa for the second half of the 2010/11 season in Serie A in his home country . There he was denied a regular place under Domenico Di Carlo and Alberto Cavasin . Macheda made 14 appearances, but did not play 90 minutes in any of these games. In the end, he finished with the Genoese 18th place, which is equivalent to the descent into Serie B was. He returned to Manchester United at the end of the season.
In the 2011/12 winter break, Macheda was loaned to the Queens Park Rangers until the end of the season. He made his debut on January 2, 2012 in the 2-1 loss in the league game against Norwich City , when he came on in the 80th minute for Heiðar Helguson . He returned to Manchester United on March 28, 2012 after suffering a protracted injury.
On January 24, 2013, Federico Macheda initially moved to VfB Stuttgart on loan until the end of the season . The Stuttgarters were verbally assured a purchase option, which was fixed in writing in February. Nevertheless, Macheda was said goodbye to the last home game of the season after 14 league appearances for VfB in the second half of the 2012/13 season.
On September 16, 2013, Macheda was loaned to Doncaster Rovers for a month . After five appearances in the second-rate Football League Championship , in which he scored three goals, he returned to Manchester in October. After an injury, Macheda was awarded again to the Doncaster Rovers in late November 2013 until the end of the year. Macheda was then loaned to Birmingham City until the end of the season . There he scored ten goals in 18 games in the Football League Championship. His contract in Manchester, which expired at the end of the season, was not extended.
For the 2014/15 season Macheda moved to the Premier League relegated Cardiff City ; he signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2017.
National team
Macheda was a national player in Italy's U-21 team , for which he played seven internationals. Before that, he had already played several times for the U-16 , U-17 and U-19 teams in his home country.
