Prince Ferdinand Johannes Nepomuk Joseph Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau (born December 4, 1781 in Vienna , † November 3, 1812 in Weltrus , district of Melnik ) was a Bohemian nobleman and Austrian officer .

Life

He was the son of Prince Joseph Kinsky and his wife Maria Rosa geb. Countess Harrach. At the age of 17 he lost his father and became a prince and majorate . The invasion of the French in 1809 induced him to join the Landsturm as captain . The battalion led by him was named "Legion Archduke Karl" and was assigned to the Austrian troops operating in Bavaria . The prince fought with his battalion in the battles of Regensburg , Aspern and Wagram . Archduke Karl awarded him the Military Maria Theresa Order on the battlefield of Aspern . It was promoted to lieutenant colonel . In 1811 the prince joined the Schwarzenberg Uhlans and was promoted to colonel in a short time .

Together with Prince Franz Joseph Maximilian von Lobkowitz and Archduke Rudolf, Ferdinand Fürst Kinsky was one of Beethoven's great supporters . Together with them, he donated a lifelong pension to the composer from 1809.

In 1812 he fell from his horse while visiting his estates in World Russia and died shortly afterwards from the consequences of the accident.

The three sons ( Rudolf , Hermann and Josef) come from the marriage with Maria Karolina von Kerpen .
