Ferdinand Julius Voelcker

Ferdinand Julius Voelcker (born January 28, 1796 in Biere , † January 4, 1890 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and inspector of the 7th fortress inspection.

Life

His parents were the preacher von Biere and his wife, a née Stohn.

First Voelcker attended the cathedral and art school in Magdeburg . On January 30, 1813 he joined the Elb National Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army as a volunteer hunter and took part in the siege of Magdeburg during the Wars of Liberation . On June 10, 1814, he went to Berlin to attend the building academy . Subsequently, Voelcker was active as a pioneer in the Brandenburg Pioneer Company from April 18, 1815, at the beginning of May 1816 he joined the 8th Engineer Division as a sergeant and then as a porter officer in the 2nd Guards Engineer Company. He was promoted to second lieutenant in mid-November 1816 , before he came to Kolberg for the fortification service on October 5, 1817 . He was born on December 21, 1827 First Lieutenant , and on April 1, 1828 to Fortifikationsdienst in the Poznań Fortress added. Voelcker stayed there until October 30, 1834, when he was assigned to serve in the General War Department. With the appointment as the first assistant of the engineering academy of the war ministry , he rose in early May 1836 to the captain second class. From October 14, 1841 to March 27, 1847 Voelcker was assigned to the fortress construction director of Ulm, Major von Prittwitz .

On 27 March 1847 he was awarded the character as a Major, was the uniform of the Corps of Engineers transferred to the officers of the army and until further notice for the construction of the federal fortress Ulm to Württemberg commanded. Voelcker was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown and, on December 20, 1851 , was transferred from the site to Luxembourg fortress as an engineer officer with a patent on his rank of March 31, 1847 . In this position he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1854 and was appointed inspector of the 3rd fortress inspection on August 2, 1854. After his promotion to colonel , he was appointed inspector of the 7th fortress inspection on May 27, 1856. At the same time Voelcker was also active as a member of the examination committee for captains and prime lieutenants of the engineering corps. He rose to major general on November 22, 1858 and received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves , at the beginning of October 1859 . From June 6, 1861, he received a salary of 3,000 thalers. Voelcker was given disposition on September 3, 1861 with the pension of a brigade commander . He died in Berlin on January 4, 1890.
