Ferdinand Synold von Schüz

Ferdinand Heinrich Albert Karl Friedrich Synold von Schüz (born August 5, 1803 in Pless ; † February 10, 1876 in Liegnitz ) was a Prussian cavalry general and member of the Reichstag of the North German Confederation .

Life

He was the son of Ernst Ludwig Synold von Schüz (1767–1833) and his wife Emilie Ernestine Albertine, born von Roeder from the Parnehnen family . His father was perman.- köth.-pless. Justice director, senior court councilor and chamberlain .

Synold von Schüz attended high school. In 1819 he joined the 4th Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army as a hussar . In March 1821 he was appointed Portepeefähnrich and promoted to Second Lieutenant on September 16, 1822 . As such, Synold von Schüz was regimental adjutant from 1830 and in the same position from March 30, 1832 for one year with the 10th Cavalry Brigade and then with the 12th Cavalry Brigade . In the following years there were other assignments as an adjutant. Synold von Schüz also worked as an adjutant to the Minister of War Ferdinand von Rohr . After his promotion to lieutenant colonel in March 1853, he returned to service and was in command of the 4th Hussar Regiment from September 25, 1855 to June 2, 1856. Subsequently he was appointed remont inspector and head of the department for remont affairs in the war ministry. Meanwhile promoted to major general, Synold von Schüz was commander of the 2nd Guard Cavalry Brigade for almost three months before he resumed his old position in the War Ministry.

During the mobilization on the occasion of the German War , Synold von Schüz was appointed Deputy Minister of War with the rank of department director. After the Peace of Prague he was board on 3 November 1866 to the disposition made to engage in political activities.

In February 1867 he was elected as a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the Reichstag constituency of Gumbinnen 4 . As a member of parliament, he joined the Conservative Party .

For the duration of the mobile relationship on the occasion of the war against France in 1870/71, Synold von Schüz was Deputy Commanding General of VI. Army Corps . In this position Wilhelm I gave him the character of General of the Cavalry on March 11, 1871 .

He was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John .
