Friedrich Synold von Schüz

Friedrich August Ludwig Albert Justus Synold von Schüz (born April 3, 1840 in Neisse ; † March 22, 1915 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the later Prussian general of the cavalry Ferdinand Synold von Schüz (1803–1876) and his wife Veronika Albertine, born von Schack (1803–1876).

Military career

Synold joined the 1st Guard Regiment on foot in the Prussian Army on December 6, 1857 . There he was promoted to Second Lieutenant on October 13, 1859 and as such was transferred to the 3rd Guards Regiment on foot on July 1, 1860 . Two months later, Synold joined the cavalry and joined the 1st Silesian Hussar Regiment No. 4 . He was promoted to regimental adjutant and in 1866 was commanded as an adjutant to the 11th Division for the duration of the war against Austria . Here he took part in the battle of Königgrätz .

As Prime Lieutenant , Synold, again commanded to the 11th Division, took part in the war against France in 1870/71 . He took part in the battles at Villepion and the sieges of Tool and Paris and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. Synold was promoted to major by 1881 and at the beginning of July 1883 was transferred to the King Hussar Regiment (1st Rheinisches) No. 7 as a regular staff officer . From December 1886 commissioned with the management of the regiment, he was appointed commander on November 15, 1887. In position à la suite of his regiment he was commissioned on August 22, 1891 with the command of the 4th Cavalry Brigade in Bromberg . In this position, when he was promoted to major general on December 19, 1893, he was appointed commander of this large unit . On May 20, 1896, Synold was put up for disposal with the statutory pension in approval of his resignation .

On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the deceased Emperor Wilhelm I , Synold was given the character of Lieutenant General on March 22, 1897 .

Synold married Gertrud von Goldfus (* 1857), the youngest sister of Silvius von Goldfus, in Groß Tinz in 1892 .
