history

The village of Tinz ("Tinchia") was founded before 1189. This emerges from a document from the Wroclaw Bishop Siroslaus II , which was issued between 1170 and 1189. With it, the Johannitern the tithe equipment of their church in Tinz was confirmed. After the division of the Duchy of Silesia , it belonged to the Duchy of Wroclaw from 1248/51 . In 1282 Tinz was implemented under German law. 1306 liberated the Breslau Duke Boleslaus III. the possessions of the Johanniter zu "Thincz" and the other monastic goods from Polish law and allowed them to use German law. In 1320 the Coming received the privilege of the lower jurisdiction as well as permission to build a prison and a gallows.

In 1335, Tinz and the Duchy of Breslau fell to the Crown of Bohemia , which from 1526 had been held by the Habsburgs . After the First Silesian War in 1742, like almost all of Silesia , it fell to Prussia . Due to the secularization, the Johanniterkommende was dissolved in 1810. The expropriated goods were acquired by Count Königsdorff in 1812 . After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , Groß Tinz belonged to the district of Nimptsch from 1816 . In 1874 the district of Groß Tinz was formed, which consisted of the rural communities Groß Tinz and Klein Tinz as well as the estate districts of the same name. After the Nimptsch district was dissolved in 1932, Groß Tinz was incorporated into the Breslau district. In 1938 Klein Tinz (from 1945 Tyńczyk ) was incorporated into Groß Tinz, which was given the official place name Groß Tinz an der Lohe. In 1939 there were 1068 inhabitants.

As a result of the Second World War , Great Tinz fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Tyniec nad Ślęzą . The German population was expelled in 1946/47. Some of the newly settled residents were displaced from eastern Poland . From 1975 to 1998 Tyniec nad Ślęzą was part of the Wrocław Voivodeship.

Attractions

  • The Johanniterkirche St. Michael mentioned in 1189 was built in the last quarter of the 12th century and expanded in the second quarter of the 13th century. After further renovations, it was painted in 1718 by Johann Jacob Eybelwieser . Instead of the tower from the 15th century, which was damaged by fire in 1634 and 1714, a baroque tower with an onion dome was built in 1715. The architectural main altar with figures of saints was erected in 1699. The altarpiece with Our Lady of Passau dates from 1726. The rococo altars next to the triumphal arch were made by the sculptor Michael Munze from Schweidnitz in 1748 and 1753 . On the neo-Gothic pulpit there are older evangelist figures. During a major renovation in 1871, the painting on the ceiling was removed and the furnishings were renewed by the Frankenstein painter Karl Krachwitz.
  • Late Gothic wayside shrine .
  • The statue of the Bohemian national saint Johannes Nepomuk in front of the churchyard wall was donated in 1733 by the order commander Johann Joseph von Götzen . It is the sculptor Johann Georg Urbansky attributed .
  • The former Tinz Castle was built in the first half of the 16th century. In 1782 it was rebuilt by the then Tinzer Johanniterkomtur based on a design by the architect CM Kunckel. After 1945 the palace and park were destroyed. A servants' house from around 1600, a half-timbered warehouse from the end of the 18th century and insignificant remnants of the baroque park (elongated water basin with sandstone surround) have been preserved. Of the sculptures from the park created around 1744 by the Bamberg sculptor Johann Albrecht Siegwitz , only individual vases and bases of figures have survived. They were set up in the cemetery area.
