The constituency of the German Reich.

The Reichstag constituency of the Province of East Prussia - Gumbinnen District 4 (constituency 14; constituency Stallupönen-Goldap-Darkehmen ) was an electoral district for the Reichstag elections in the German Reich and in the North German Confederation from 1867 to 1918.

Constituency layout

The constituency comprised the district of Stallupönen , the district of Grünheide from the district of Gumbinnen , the district of Goldap , the district of Darkehmen without the Krug Skallischen of the municipality of Skallischen and the district of Broszaitschen as well as the communities of Altgurren, Neugurrem and the district of Gurren from the district of Angerburg .

Replacement election 1879

After Goßler was appointed Undersecretary of State in the fall of 1879, a replacement was elected on December 12, 1879 due to his temporary incompatibility . There was only one ballot.

Substitute election 1903

After Sperber's death, a replacement election took place on December 1, 1903. Due to the short time available, the SPD was unable to nominate a candidate and called for abstention. There was a ballot. The number of eligible voters was 23,933 and the number of votes cast 9822, of which 28 were invalid. The turnout was 41.0%.

1907

BdL and conservatives named a joint candidate. According to the agreement at the provincial level, the NLP should support the candidate of the FVP. It is not known whether this took place due to the minor importance of NLP in the constituency. There was a ballot. The number of eligible voters was 24,033 and the number of votes cast 18,406, of which 32 were invalid. The turnout was 76.6%.
