history

The Latin and Rector School

The roots of the Realschule lie in the Latin School , which according to records was founded in 1567 after the introduction of the Reformation in the Archdiocese of Bremen . In 1770 the rector's school, which had already been rebuilt, was expanded to include the so-called cantor school, in which school beginners and pupils who did not take part in Latin and French classes were taught. As a result of strong changes in the number of pupils, the school composition was often changed in the following years.

The Findorff Middle School

The Findorff Middle School was founded in 1926 and emerged from the Latin School and later the Rector School. During the Second World War , classes had to be suspended on March 15, 1945 due to the arrival of refugees from the East and local threats of war. He was resumed on September 10th of the same year.

On March 24, 1959, the city of Bremervörde decided to build a new middle school. The foundation stone was laid on August 28, 1961. The first construction phase cost around 2.5 million German marks , which was subsidized by Lower Saxony and the Federal Ministry of Defense and was officially opened on June 12, 1963. Since then, the school has borne the name of the bog colonizer Jürgen Christian Findorff . The number of pupils did not exceed 472 between 1944 and 1963.

The school building

The school building consists of the building of the former orientation level , OS for short, on Gnarrenburger Straße and the associated secondary school building in the style of the sixties on Birkenweg. In the inner courtyard there is a large playground with a football field , two trampolines , several seating areas and table tennis tables . In the northeast, next to the bicycle racks, opposite the main entrance, there is a wooded area in which a football field has also been created. There is also the sports hall used by the school. On the south side, there are bus stops for school transport along the Birkenweg . To the west of the school building is the sports field, which is used by all schools in the Bremen school center.

In the late 1960s , a construction flaw was discovered on the four-story tower that housed the science classrooms. The tower was then torn down.
