The Finke The experience-setting GmbH & Co. KG is a 1959 founded group of companies in the furniture - retail , located in the East Westphalian city of Paderborn . It was taken over by Höffner Möbelgesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG at the beginning of October 2018 . Finke employs more than 1,500 people and achieved sales of around 300 million euros in 2014. The group of companies includes seven furniture stores, seven discount stores and a kitchen specialist.

In 1959 Franz Finke founded Finke Möbel in Paderborn, a furniture retailer with a sales area of ​​100 square meters. 1969 began the expansion of the headquarters. In 1978 his son Wilfried Finke († 2019) took over the management.

In 1990 a sales tent was set up in downtown Erfurt before the second Finke store opened in Elxleben near Erfurt in 1993 . In 1995 the house opened in Kassel . In 1997 the Thuringian logistics center in Elxleben near Erfurt was put into operation and in 1998 another house was opened in Münster .

In 2000 the first discount store of the Preis-Rebell brand opened in Paderborn and in 2001 another in Kassel. Other houses followed in Erfurt, Beckum, Münster, Dülmen and most recently in 2010 in Oer-Erkenschwick . In 2003 the Finke furniture store in Paderborn was expanded to 42,000 square meters. Another Finke store was opened in Jena in 2004 and the XARA specialist kitchen store in Paderborn was reopened in 2005. In 2006 another Finke store opened in Oberhausen and the dream factory in Kassel. However, the designer furniture store Traumfabrik was closed again in 2011 because the rental agreement was terminated by the owner. In 2008 the furniture store in Münster was expanded to 44,000 square meters and the logistics center located there opened. In September 2015, a furniture store and the Carré take-away store opened in Hamm - Rhynern .

The management was founded in 2011 with Rudolf Christa, previously u. a. Managing Director at XXXLutz , and Thomas Eck, previously u. a. Managing director at Möbel Höffner , reinforced.

On August 24, 2018 it was announced that Wilfried Finke wants to sell the company to Möbel Höffner. The Federal Cartel Office confirmed the sale at the beginning of October. The death of Wilfried Finkes was officially announced on January 15, 2019.

Department stores

The following table provides an overview of the department stores belonging to the group. Due to the takeover of the furniture store Höffner, the furniture store in Paderborn stopped selling at the end of April 2019; the building was demolished. The administration will cease operations at the end of 2019. The discount store Preis-Rebell in Beckum also closed on March 31, 2019. A new building for a Höffner furniture store is to be built on the site of the furniture store in Paderborn. In 2020 the Jena location was sold and taken over by Möbel Kraft

Sponsorship

In addition, the Finke company was a long-term shirt sponsor of the SC Paderborn 07 soccer club . Wilfried Finke, owner of the company, was president of the association for many years - until his resignation on May 16, 2016 - and saved it from possible bankruptcy. From December 2016 to July 2018 he was again the president of SC Paderborn 07. In the 2012/13 season, Finke was also the main and name sponsor of the Paderborn Baskets and thus saved the club from bankruptcy .
