The Finnvedsvallen is a football stadium with athletics track in southern Sweden Värnamo . The sports facility is used in particular by IFK Värnamo , the soccer team plays their home games in the stadium.
History and background
In the 1980s the stadium was renovated and a new grandstand was built. For a long time, the club's footballers played in the third and fourth leagues, and at the end of 2010 the team was promoted to the second-rate Superettan . The stadium officially offers space for up to 5,000 spectators in the second division.
The stadium is located on a peninsula in the Lagan River , which flows past the curves and the side stand. It is the only athletics stadium in the city, which has a population of just under 20,000. The stadium has a covered main grandstand with seats. On the back straight there is an uncovered standing room, in the curves there is space for spectators behind the advertising boards . As a separator between the individual areas on the back straight, there are green strips several meters wide with bushes in four places. A plastic track with six lanes runs around the natural grass field . There are also other classic athletics facilities on the site, such as a high jump facility , long jump pool and circles for the shot put or the common throwing disciplines.
