The flag of the Norfolk Island was officially introduced on January 17, 1980 for the island belonging to Australia .

The flag is green-white-green, in a ratio of 7: 9: 7, split, with a green Norfolk fir in the middle - a conifer that is only native to this island .

history

The draft was approved on June 6, 1979 by the "Council of the Norfolk Island". The flag's designer was not disclosed. The 1979 Norfolk Island Flag and Public Seal Act defined it and set the guidelines for how to use it. The flag law was passed on January 1, 1980. On January 17, 1980, the flag was officially introduced when the law came into force.
