Floridia is a town in the municipality consortium Syracuse outdoors in the region Sicily in Italy with 22,557 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It is located 10 km west of Syracuse .
Location and dates
The place is 12 km west of Syracuse at an altitude of 111 m. The inhabitants live mainly from agriculture, livestock and industry (cement and food industry).
The neighboring municipalities are Canicattini Bagni , Palazzolo Acreide , Syracuse and Solarino .
The Floridia station was on the narrow-gauge railway line Syracuse - Ragusa .
history
Xiridia, today's Floridia, was originally a fief of the Siracusa family . The present parish was founded in 1628.
