Buscemi is a city of the Free Church consortium Syracuse in the region Sicily in Italy with 995 inhabitants (December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Buscemi is 50 km west of Syracuse . The residents mainly work in agriculture.

The neighboring communities are Buccheri , Cassaro , Ferla , Giarratana ( RG ), Modica (RG) and Palazzolo Acreide .

The Buscemi station was on the narrow-gauge railway line Syracuse-Ragusa .

history

The place has existed since the time of the Normans . In Arab times , the name of the place was Edrisi. A severe earthquake destroyed many places in Sicily in 1693, including Buscemi. The reconstruction took place north of the old city.
