Follwark ( Polish Folwark , 1936–1945 Ger. Vorwerk ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Follwark belongs to the municipality of Proskau (Prószków) in the Powiat Opolski in the Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Follwark is located six kilometers northeast of the municipality Proskau and six kilometers south of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole (Opole) . The Oder flows to the east of the village .

The state road Droga krajowa 45 runs through the village .

Neighboring towns of Follwark are in the west Gorek (Górki), in the north Winau (Winów), in the east Groschowitz (Groszowice) and in the south Chrzowitz (Chrzowice).

history

Follwark was first mentioned in 1295 as a Vorwerk . In 1532 the village was mentioned as Forwerckh .

In 1845 the village consisted of a total of 25 houses. In the same year 160 people lived in Follwark, all of them Catholic.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 59 eligible voters voted to remain in Germany and 120 to belong to Poland. Follwark remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 354 people in Follwark. On April 28, 1936 the village name was changed to Vorwerk . In 1939, 324 people lived in Vorwerk.

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Folwark and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Opolski. On April 30, 2010, the place was also given the official German place name Follwark . Since June 2012 the place-name signs have also been bilingual.
