Jaschkowitz (Polish Jaśkowice , 1936-1945 Johannsdorf OS ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Jaschkowitz is located in the municipality of Proskau ( Prószków ) in the Powiat Opolski (Opole district) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

The street village of Jaschkowitz is located four kilometers southwest of the municipality of Proskau and 16 kilometers southwest of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole ( Opole ).

The A4 autostrada runs north of the village . The provincial road Droga wojewódzka 413 runs through the village . To the west of the village are extensive forest areas that belong to the Tillowitz Forest . Part of this is the nature reserve Jaschkowitz (Polish Rezerwat przyrody Jaśkowice ).

The place was mentioned in a document on November 29, 1312 as Villa Johannis . The original place has probably become desolate, Felix Triest dated the place in 1865 to an age of 300 years, i.e. to the 16th century. In 1784 the place, which belonged to the Proskau lordship, had nine gardeners, three cottagers and a farm. In 1797 the Jaschkowitz colony was founded. Cluster clubs were settled. In 1818 Jaschkowitz had nine gardeners, three cottagers and a farm. In 1865 Jaschkowitz consisted of a village, a colony and a manor and it had nine gardeners, 12 cottagers and three local cottagers. The colony had eleven cottages. Furthermore, a Kretschmer (innkeeper), a blacksmith, two food dealers and three tar dealers were resident in the village. At that time, the Catholic residents were parish and schooled in Ellguth-Proskau, the Protestant residents in Proskau.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 191 eligible voters voted to remain in Germany and 31 to belong to Poland. Jaschkowitz remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 298 inhabitants. On April 28, 1936, the place was renamed Johannsdorf / Upper Silesia . In 1939 the place had 311 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Jaśkowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Opolski . On July 11, 2006, German was introduced as the second official language in the community of Proskau, which Jaschkowitz belongs to. On April 30, 2010, the place was also given the official German place name Jaschkowitz .

  • Neo-Gothic path chapel with bell tower from the years 1903 to 1907 with brick facade. At the chapel there is a memorial plaque for the 33 fallen soldiers of the First and Second World Wars.
