Forsthaus Banz is a wasteland in the Upper Franconian town of Bad Staffelstein in the Lichtenfels district .
geography
Forsthaus Banz is located about six kilometers southwest of Lichtenfels at the southwestern foot of Banz Monastery . The Mühlgraben flows into the Roßbach, a tributary of the Main River on the right . A community road leads to Altenbanz .
history
In 1933, Duke Ludwig Wilhelm in Bavaria sold Banz Castle to the Community of the Holy Angels . The lands remained in the hands of Wittelsbach . For the ducal forest administration, he therefore had the Banz forester's lodge built on a plot of land in the Unnersdorf district in 1933 .
In 1950 the desert, which belonged to the municipality of Weingarten , had 16 residents and one residential building. The then capital, Weingarten, is four kilometers to the northeast. The responsible Catholic church was in Banz Castle, 1.5 kilometers away, and the school in Unnersdorf, one kilometer away. In 1961 16 people lived in the forester's house in two residential buildings. The responsible Protestant parish was in Herreth, five kilometers away . In 1970 the place had 14 residents and in 1987 three residents and a residential building.
On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved and the community of Weingarten was incorporated into the Lichtenfels district. At the same time, Forsthaus Banz was spun off from the community of Weingarten and merged with Altenbanz , Stadel , Neubanz , Nedensdorf and Unnersdorf to form the new community of Banz , which was then dissolved on January 1, 1978 and incorporated into the town of Staffelstein. Forsthaus Banz has belonged to Staffelstein ever since.
