Neubanz is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Bad Staffelstein in the Lichtenfels district .
geography
The street village is about six kilometers southwest of Lichtenfels at the western foot of Banz Monastery .
history
The first mention of Neubanz was in 1855. It was created around 1820 as a settlement for servants of the princely castle of Banz.
In 1862 the village, which belonged to the rural community of Weingarten , was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Staffelstein .
In 1871 Neubanz had 77 residents and 31 buildings. The Catholic Church was in Banz Monastery, 0.5 kilometers away, and the school in Unnersdorf, 1.5 kilometers away . In 1900 105 people lived in 13 residential buildings in the village. The responsible Protestant parish was in Herreth, 4.4 kilometers away . In 1925, Neubanz had 76 residents and 13 residential buildings.
In 1950, 92 people lived in 14 residential buildings in Neubanz. In 1970 the place had 55 inhabitants and in 1987 57 inhabitants and 19 residential buildings.
On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved and the community of Weingarten was incorporated into the Lichtenfels district. At the same time, Neubanz was spun off from the community of Weingarten and merged with the neighboring communities of Altenbanz , Stadel , Nedensdorf and Unnersdorf to form the new community of Banz , which was dissolved on January 1, 1978 and incorporated into the town of Staffelstein. Since then, Neubanz has been a district of Staffelstein.
