history

Wolfsdorf was first mentioned in 1240. Between 1533 and 1728, the Marschalk von Ebneth dynasty appeared there as fiefdoms . The originally (1792) 28 estates were shared by a total of seven landlords: The Lichtenfels caste office , representing the Bamberg bishop, was the most important owner with nine properties and an inn. Behind them were the Langheim Monastery , the parishes of Lichtenfels, Ebensfeld and Amlingstadt and the Bamberg Monastery of St. Gangolf . The community owned a cottage with a forge and a shepherd's house. The Catholic St. Mary's Chapel was built in 1858 as a foundation by the Staffelstein master locksmith Rudolph and the interior was renovated in the 1970s and 1996. Due to the active activity of the Flower and Garden Friends e. V. the village developed into a Franconian gem.

On January 1, 1978 Wolfsdorf was incorporated into the town of Staffelstein.

In the Bavarian list of monuments 14 monuments are listed for Wolfsdorf .
