The schoolhouse was built in 1780. In 1801, Romansthal consisted of twelve domestic fiefs from the Bamberg cathedral chapter and four from the Bamberg prince-bishop . The cathedral chapter owned the parish. In 1839, the daughter of Beer host Andrew Lamb, the "beautiful Reaper" Eva lamb was known from the poem hiking trip of Viktor von Scheffel born in Roman Thal.

In 1818 Romansthal and Wolfsdorf were merged into one municipality. In 1862 the rural community Wolfsdorf, consisting of the villages Romansthal and Wolfsdorf and the wasteland Staffelberg , was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Staffelstein . In 1871 the village of Romansthal had 132 inhabitants and 70 buildings. The Catholic Church was in Staffelstein, 2.5 kilometers away, the school location was Romansthal. In 1900 the rural community Wolfsdorf covered an area of 589.27 hectares, 339 inhabitants, of whom 338 were Catholic, and 61 residential buildings. 127 people lived in Romansthal in 25 residential buildings. In 1925, 122 people lived in 23 residential buildings. In 1950 the village had 132 residents and 20 residential buildings. The responsible Protestant parish was in Staffelstein.
