End is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Bad Staffelstein in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The village is located about seven kilometers southeast of Bad Staffelstein at the foot of the Weißjura plateau east of the main valley . The street village is traversed by the Döritzbach to the west, into which the Kümmersreuther Graben flows on the northern edge of the village. State Road 2204 runs through End.

history

End was first mentioned in 1288 as "Zumente". Around 1420, twelve fiefs, two mills and an inn were recorded for “Ent” in the land register of the Langheim monastery .

In 1801 the sovereignty of the state, the center , the village, community and land rule belonged to the Lichtenfels office of the Bamberg prince-bishop . The residents were parish in Uetzing . End, upstream, as the upper part and Schwabthal as the lower part, formed a village. This consisted of a community pastor's house and 33 fiefdoms, 17 of them from the Langheim monastery. These included two mills on the Trebitzbach (today Döritzbach).

In 1818 the four places End, Kaider , Kümmersreuth and Schwabthal were combined into one municipality. In 1862 the rural community of Schwabthal was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Staffelstein . In 1871 the village of End had 100 residents and 45 buildings. The Catholic school and church were in Frauendorf, 1.6 kilometers away . In 1900, the rural community Schwabthal covered an area of ​​1141.90 hectares, 365 residents, all of whom were Catholic, and 73 residential buildings. 79 people lived in End in 16 residential buildings. In 1925, 86 people lived in 15 residential buildings, in 1950 there were 142 residents and 17 residential buildings, and the relevant Protestant parish was in Staffelstein. In 1970 the village had 93 inhabitants.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved and End was incorporated into the Lichtenfels district. On January 1, 1978 the incorporation to Staffelstein followed. In 1987 the village had 95 inhabitants and 25 residential buildings with 32 apartments.

Attractions

The listed Landgasthof Schwarzer Adler goes back to a stagecoach station from the 16th century. The owner family has had brewing rights since 1791. After a fire in the 1960s, the brewery was shut down.
