Serkendorf is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Bad Staffelstein in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

Serkendorf is located about seven kilometers east of Bad Staffelstein in Döbertengrund, through which the water-rich Döbertenbach flows to the west. The district road LIF 16 crosses the village. The hops spring feeds the village well.

history

Serkendorf was first mentioned in 1256 when Bamberg's bishop Heinrich I von Bilversheim documented that Ramung and Friedrich von Plassenberg left “uillam in Sirkendorf” and goods in Stublang to the Langheim monastery in exchange for other substitutes for the bishop.

In 1801 the center belonged to the Lichtenfels office of the Bamberg prince-bishop , the village, parish, fiefdom and bailiwick of the Langheim monastery. The residents were parish to Uetzing . The place had a community center with a forge, a shepherd's house, 14 houses with barns, and a mill with two aisles and a barn.

In 1862 the rural community consisting of the village of Serkendorf and the hamlets of Gößmitz and Weisbrem was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Staffelstein . In 1871 the village of Serkendorf had 72 residents and 43 buildings. The Catholic school and church were in Uetzing, 2.5 kilometers away. In 1900 the rural community Serkendorf covered an area of ​​656.67 hectares, 177 inhabitants, of whom 176 were Catholic, and 33 residential buildings. 63 people lived in 14 residential buildings in Serkendorf. In 1925 51 people lived in 13 residential buildings, in 1950 there were 86 residents and 13 residential buildings, the responsible Protestant parish was in Staffelstein. In 1970 the place had 61 inhabitants and in 1987 59 inhabitants and 14 residential buildings.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved and Serkendorf was incorporated into the Lichtenfels district. On January 1, 1978 the incorporation to Staffelstein followed.

Attractions

Eight architectural monuments are listed for Serkendorf in the Bavarian list of monuments . The Catholic chapel of St. Mary, a plastered Satteldachbau with a roof turret was in 1927 neo-baroque built forms to designs by the architect Bamberger Lutz. In 1989 a sacristy was added and an electric bell was installed.

The former monastery mill was mentioned in the land register of Langheim monastery in 1530. The hipped roof building with a timbered upper floor dates back to 1720 and is known as Mill Bakery in operation.
