Weisbrem is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Bad Staffelstein in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The hamlet is located about six kilometers east of Bad Staffelstein in Döbertengrund, through which the water-rich Döbertenbach flows to the west. The district road LIF 16 crosses the village.

history

Weisbrem was first mentioned in 1142 as "Witzbrimen" when the bishop of Bamberg Egilbert the Klosterlangheim confirmed possession. The next mention followed in 1255 when the Bamberg treasurer Arnold von Sonneberg sold the monastery his Hube in "villa Wizbrem".

In 1801, "Weisbrehm", together with Serkendorf and Gößmetz, was a municipality that was in the territory of the Bamberg bishopric . The Zent belonged to the Lichtenfels office of the Bamberg prince-bishop , the village, parish, fiefdom and bailiff to the Langheim monastery . The residents were parish in Uetzing . The place had seven houses with barns and a grinding mill with one cutting aisle and two grinding aisles, today's old mill.

In 1862, the rural community of Serkendorf, consisting of the village of Serkendorf and the hamlets of Gößmitz and Weisbrem, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Staffelstein . In 1871 the hamlet of Weisbrem had 46 residents, all of whom were Catholic, and 24 buildings. The Catholic school and church were in Uetzing, one kilometer away. In 1900 the rural community Serkendorf covered an area of ​​656.67 hectares, 177 inhabitants, of whom 176 were Catholic, and 33 residential buildings. 57 people lived in 8 residential buildings in Weisbrem. In 1925, 49 people lived in 8 residential buildings. 1950 the spelling of the place name was still "Weißbrehm" and the hamlet had 53 inhabitants and 7 residential buildings. The responsible Protestant parish was in Staffelstein. The current spelling of the place name has existed since the 1950s. In 1970 Weisbrem had 36 residents and in 1987 33 residents and 7 residential buildings with 8 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the district of Staffelstein was dissolved and Serkendorf was incorporated with the district of Weisbrem in the district of Lichtenfels. On January 1, 1978 the incorporation to Staffelstein followed.
