After training as a chemical skilled worker (vocational training with high school diploma), Pasemann studied political economy in Leipzig from 1984 to 1989 and graduated as a qualified economist / teacher. One year after joining the AfD in 2015, the former member of the LDPD and FDP ran for the state parliament, but was unsuccessful.

politics

After the 2017 federal election , journalists from the weekly newspaper Die Zeit characterized Pasemann as “ nationally conservative ” within the AfD.

Pasemann is one of the liaisons between parts of the AfD and the Identitarian Movement (IB). According to the weekly newspaper Die Zeit , he is said to have made a significant contribution to IB activists Melanie Schmitz and Till-Lucas Wessels being able to perform at an AfD rally in front of the Saxon state parliament .

For the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 2016, Pasemann ran unsuccessfully for his party. He then worked in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt for the AfD parliamentary group. He later worked for the MP Oliver Kirchner , also a member of the Patriotic Platform in his constituency.

Pasemann headed the general meeting of the AfD-affiliated Patriotic Platform in November 2016 as conference president.

Pasemann was treasurer of the AfD Saxony-Anhalt until June 2018 . After there had already been disagreements within the state association in January 2017 and a complaint for embezzlement against Pasemann, the Volksstimme reported a scandal at the state party conference in June 2018: the delegates refused to discharge the state executive, Pasemann also gave the auditors the upon request Documentation refused. At the previous party congress, discharge had failed after hours of discussion.

In November 2017, Pasemann was also elected deputy federal treasurer of his party. Die Zeit reported the horror that subsequently spread among moderate AfD members that the election was mainly acclaimed by the "national conservative wing" around Björn Höcke .

In July 2018 organized Pasemann about his Abgeordnetenbüro an event in the premises of the Bundestag with the extreme right-wing activists Philip Stein as speakers. The topic of the event under the title “Left support structures and the new 'fight against the law'” was “the various abuse-prone federal support programs” to curb right-wing extremism and “parliamentary counter-strategies” to defend against those support programs. Two Philip Stein gave his opinion of experts, the former neo-Nazi - Executive Michael Shepherd and Julian Monaco , with which have been designated by Frank Pasemann in his address as invited friends. All MPs of the party and their employees were invited to the event on the topic.

On the occasion of the announcement of the verdict in the trial against Beate Zschäpe , Pasemann described the trial as a show trial . Matthias Kamann saw here an attempt by Pasemann to put the NSU trial in line with the Stalinist show trials and other court cases in dictatorships. Bundestag Vice- President Wolfgang Kubicki saw in Pasemann's provocation a limit was exceeded: "In its longing for an arbitrary state, the AfD is about to discredit all institutions of the democratic constitutional state."

Pasemann described the participants at the 24th UN Climate Change Conference in Katowice as "disciples of the Climate Church".

To cope with his mandate tasks and to support his parliamentary work, Pasemann and eighteen other members of his parliamentary group hired employees from the right-wing extremist milieu: According to research by Zeit Online, two employees are members of the striking Berlin fraternity Gothia , which belongs to the nationalist umbrella organization German fraternity , and have each other also in actions or demonstrations of the extreme right identitary involved. Another employee who previously worked for the parliamentary group of the AfD Saxony-Anhalt is a member of the Cologne fraternity Germania and an activist in the new right-wing initiative One Percent for Our Land .

In mid-October 2018, the AfD state executive committee of Saxony-Anhalt decided to apply to the federal executive committee of the Pasemann party to expel the party .

In April 2020, the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt renewed the attempt to exclude Pasemann from the AfD. According to the chairman of the Landes-AfD Martin Reichardt, the reason for the exclusion process is anti-Semitism allegations. The trigger was a tweet by Pasemann from the end of February 2020. In it he had written “The eternal Friedman!” Over a photo of Michel Friedman , the former deputy chairman of the Central Council of Jews in Germany . The tweet caused outrage because it resembles the title of the anti-Semitic Nazi propaganda film “ The Eternal Jew ”. Pasemann admitted that the tweet was "awkwardly worded". "Word similarity of tweet and Nazi propaganda film" was not known to him. On the Facebook page of the inner-party association Der Flügel in April 2020 it was said “Frank Pasemann stays” and “No more uncertainty among the grassroots!”

In August 2020, Pasemann was excluded from the AfD by the regional arbitration court. In addition to publications that were harmful to the party, he was charged with illegal fundraising and unpaid electoral fees. Pasemann can appeal to the Federal Arbitration Court.
