Franko Uzelac (born November 5, 1994 in Ahlen ) is a Croatian - German football player . His father is the coach and former soccer player Predrag Uzelac .

Career

After playing at SV Emstek , Werder Bremen and VfL Osnabrück , Uzelac joined the youth team at VfB Oldenburg in 2009 . In May 2013 he made his debut for the men's team in the Regionalliga Nord when he came on as a substitute for Kai Pröger on the 19th matchday of the 2012/13 season against FC St. Pauli II in the 86th minute .

At the Würzburger Kickers in the 2nd Bundesliga

After 95 games in the regional league for Oldenburg, Uzelac moved to the second division Würzburger Kickers for the 2016/17 season , where he received a contract that was valid until June 2018 and was later extended by one season. He made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga in December 2016 when he was brought into play for Valdet Rama in the 89th minute on matchday 17 of that season against VfB Stuttgart . In the two seasons in Würzburg he could not assert himself as a regular player. He was used more often in the Bayern League , at the Würzburger Kickers II, than in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Regional league again

For the 2018/19 season Uzelac moved to the regional league club SV Babelsberg 03 , with whom he was seventh in the table. He has been playing in the Regionalliga West at SC Fortuna Köln since the 2019/20 season . He was named team captain there because he “has this leader gene”, as his coach Thomas Stratos told the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger .

National team

In February 2014 Uzelac was part of the squad of the Croatian U-20 national team and took part with them in a three-day training camp in Umag . Uzelac never played for an international team.
