Franz Bernert (born April 4, 1811 in Grafenstein , † March 18, 1890 in Dresden ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman .

Life

A native of the Czech Grafstein Bernert was in on 4 August 1834 Litomerice to priests ordained . Further stations were chaplain in Neustadt near Böhmisch Leipa in 1837. 1841 Chaplain in Raspenau near Friedland in Bohemia. 1842 pastor in Meissen. 1848 pastor in Zwickau. After the death of Ludwig Forwerk , on January 28, 1876, he was appointed vicar apostolic in the Saxon hereditary lands and administrator of the former diocese of Meißen in the margraviate of Upper Lusatia and at the same time he was appointed titular bishop of Azotus . He received his episcopal ordination on March 18, 1876, Augustin II. Pavel Vahala , the bishop of Leitmeritz ; Assistants were Abbot Salesius Mayer from the Osek Monastery and the Leitmeritz city dean Dr. Johann Rzehak.

As dean of the cathedral monastery in Bautzen , Bernert was a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament from 1875 until his death . In 1884 he achieved his golden jubilee as a priest. He was the confessor of the Saxon King Albert .

Franz Bernert had five siblings (only he wrote his name with the ending `` t ''): Joseph Berner, Ignaz Valentin Berner, Veronika Genoveva Berner, Karolina Berner and Anna Berner. The latter is the mother of the sculptor brothers Franz Schwarz , Adolf Schwarz , Anton Schwarz and Joseph Schwarz as well as the painter Wenzel Schwarz . Franz Bernert was her godfather. In keeping with this imprint, the brothers also designed numerous statues and pictures for churches.

Franz Bernert died at the age of 79. His grave is located in the Old Catholic Cemetery in Dresden and was created by his nephew Franz Schwarz.
