Franz of Bentheim-Tecklenburg
Franz Friedrich Ferdinand Adolf, 3rd Prince of Bentheim-Tecklenburg-Rheda (born October 22, 1800 in Rheda , † January 8, 1885 ibid) was a Westphalian nobleman and third prince from the House of Bentheim-Tecklenburg .

Franz zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg was the fourth child of the ruling Prince Emil Friedrich I zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg (1765-1837) and his wife Luise, Countess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein (1768-1828), daughter of Count Johann Ludwig zu Sayn -Wittgenstein-Hohenstein (1740–1797) and Friederike Louise Charlotte (née Countess von Pückler-Limpurg).
Bentheim-Tecklenburg remained unmarried and childless. His nephew Gustav (1849–1909) became heir .
Life
Bentheim-Tecklenburg completed his schooling in Düsseldorf and Darmstadt . From 1822 to 1824 he attended the universities of Heidelberg , Bonn and Marburg under the educational guidance of Jodocus Temme .
In 1826 he was appointed second lieutenant in the Prussian cavalry to III. Battalion of the 15th Landwehr Regiment aggregated . In 1828 he was granted leave for the first time . In 1840 he took up his service in the cavalry of the 2nd contingent of the 16th Landwehr Regiment as a second lieutenant. In 1843 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and in 1844 received the character of Rittmeister . It was not until 1852 that he also received the patent for his rank, but in the same year he was given the character of a major . He was assigned to officers à la suite from the army in 1854. Bentheim-Tecklenburg received the character of a lieutenant colonel in 1858 and the patent for it in 1861. Finally in 1865 he became a colonel , in 1869 he was promoted to major general and also in 1869 to lieutenant general . He was a knight of the Order of St. John .
After the death of his brother Moritz Casimir , he was right with hereditary prince and nobleman of the lordship of Rheda . He was also listed as a hereditary member of the Prussian mansion , but without having entered it. In 1884 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia.
