Francis von Paula Herzan von Harras ( Czech František de Paula Hrzán z Harasova ) (born April 5, 1735 in Prague , † June 1, 1804 in Vienna ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Baptized on April 9, 1735, Herzan von Harras received his doctorate on March 29, 1757 at the Gregoriana in Rome. At that time he was living in the Collegio Germanico there . On February 18, 1758 he received the sacrament of ordination and in 1767 became an auditor of the Rota Romana . At the same time he was Austria's ambassador to the Apostolic See.

Pope Pius VI created Herzan on July 12, 1779 as cardinal priest and on December 11, 1780 awarded him the titular church of San Girolamo degli Schiavoni . Since September 13, 1782 cardinal priest of Santi Nereo e Achilleo , he was from March 10, 1788 to March 30, 1789 chamberlain of the Holy College of Cardinals and from April 7, 1788 cardinal priest of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme .

At the conclave of 1799/1800 he presented the veto of Emperor Franz II against the election of the cardinals Hyacinthe Sigismond Gerdil and Carlo Antonio Giuseppe Bellisomi .
