Frau Rettich, die Czerni und I is a German comedy film from 1998 with a number of well-known German actors. The film is based on the story of the same name by Simone Borowiak .

action

The first-person narrator of the film, Sophie, is driving to Spain with her pregnant boss Frau Rettich and her despised colleague Czerni, who is active in the union. There Mrs. Radich would like to marry her Spanish boyfriend, whom she only calls "Pupsi". They are followed unnoticed by Czerni's fiancé, who is only called “the beard” by Sophie, and Sophie's secret crush, the good-looking bookseller Bakunin.

In Spain the wedding falls into the water, because "Pupsi" is just about to marry someone else. Mrs. Radish foams. Czerni starts an affair with a Spaniard and gets into trouble with the beard. More entanglements follow until there is a lot of party and Sophie and Bakunin are a couple. In the end, the three women are back in Germany, and Frau Radich is planning her next fiery conquest.

Reviews

The film does not necessarily succeed in realizing the quality of Borowiak's book. Ponkie wrote on May 14, 1998 in the evening newspaper : "The jokes, including Dirk Bach and bath salt, fizzle out in the pairing trip of the travel brochure cinema - although one could expect more bizarre humor from the literary starting point."

Nevertheless, the team managed to make a German holiday comedy. In its October issue of the same year , the TV Movie wrote : “Markus Imbodens briskly narrated comedy amazes with the refreshing ease with which it pursues its only goal: to entertain. If one or the other misses the satirical peaks of the novel, the film also offers enough opportunity to have a great time. "

Awards

In 1998 the film was nominated for the German Film Prize in the Best Film category by the German Film Academy .
