Frederick Jaeger
Manfred Frederick Jaeger (born May 29, 1928 in Berlin , Germany , † June 18, 2004 in Mallorca , Spain ) was a British actor .
Life
Jaeger's family fled Germany after Hitler came to power to avoid persecution of the Jews . In 1948 he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama , and received his first engagements as a stage actor the following year. His theater career spanned five decades, during which he appeared in performances in London's West End , as well as touring the USA , Europe and Latin America . Jaeger acquired British citizenship in 1950. From the mid-1950s he could also be seen on the big screen; However, as a native German, he was initially subscribed to Nazi roles , including One Came Through and Ice Cold in Alexandria . His television career also began in the mid-1950s. In addition to numerous guest roles in successful television series in German-speaking countries such as Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone , Department S , Die 2 and Die Profis , he appeared in 1974 in the recurring role of Commander Fletcher in the crime series Task Force Police .
He was seen several times in the successful science fiction series Doctor Who : 1966 as Jano , 1975 as Professor Sorenson , and 1977 as Professor Marius , creator of the robot dog K-9 . Jaeger only rarely played in German productions, including the television productions Graf Yoster gives himself the honor , Butler Parker and Ein Kapitel .
Jaeger was married twice. His first marriage in 1958 was divorced in 1972 and remarried the following year. In 1996 he retired from the acting business and moved to Mallorca with his wife, where he died in 2004 after a long illness.
