Friedenshügel ( Danish Fredshøj ) is a municipality in the Friesischer Berg district of Flensburg .

background

The district was named after the peace hill of the same name , which is located in the area. The city district also includes the Friedenshügel cemetery and a large part of the West industrial area on Westerallee / Lilienthalstrasse , with the Citti-Park-Flensburg . A part of the industrial area was assigned to the Weiche district by the city administration , although this part is separated from Weiche by the train route and acts as part of the Peace Hill district.

The city district is well connected to the traffic network thanks to the federal highway 199 (which bears the name “Am Friedenshügel” in the area), the federal highway 199 (also known as the western bypass in the Flensburg area) and the proximity to the motorway feeder to the A7 . Busy bus routes run through it. Campers and mobile homes that come from Scandinavia stay overnight in the parking lot in front of the Citti-Park, which has meanwhile set up a separate parking space. The Friedenshügel district also includes areas built on with residential buildings .

Unlike the Flensburg city center or Mürwik , this area of the city does not yet have a complex, far-reaching history. Cultural monuments can only be found in the area of the cemetery. Accordingly, the aforementioned urban area has so far aroused rather less interest nationally. In 2015, a puma was allegedly spotted on the railroad tracks on the edge of the Friedenshügel district towards the Weiche district ( Lage ) , which led to a large police operation and national reporting. A train attendant and several rail passengers on the Fredericia – Flensburg line had independently sighted the alleged Puma in the area of the tracks near Friedensweg . The police search apparently remained unsuccessful. A puma had already been sighted in southern Denmark in the summer of 1982, which apparently served as a summer looper .
