Friedrich Ferdinand von Dalberg

Friedrich Ferdinand von Dalberg (born December 9, 1822 in Vienna ; † September 19, 1908 in Schloss Datschitz ), whose full name was Friedrich Ferdinand Franz Eckbrecht (or: Egbert ), was a baron , belonged to the noble von Dalberg family and was a member of the austrian manor house .

Origin and education

Friedrich Ferdinand was the son of Karl Anton von Dalberg (* May 3, 1792; † March 20, 1859) and his wife, Maria Karoline Charlotte (* January 28, 1791; † 1867) Sturmfeder von Oppenweiler -Stkrod. He was the only child out of the marriage and thus in 1859, after the death of his father, his universal heir.

The parents turned their son's interest towards nature at an early age. He studied law at the University of Würzburg .

Friedrich Ferdinand married Kunigunde von Vittinghoff-Schell zu Schellenberg on June 13, 1846 (* March 1, 1827, † May 29, 1892 in Vienna). A number of common children emerged from the marriage:

  1. Ludwiga Frederike Karoline Maria (* April 30, 1847 - December 31, 1918) married Heinrich Horneck von Weinheim (* February 26, 1843 in Bamberg ; † May 27, 1896 in Bayreuth ), an officer in Vienna, on January 23, 1873 , Landowners and members of the Reichstag .
  2. Karl Heribert zu Friesenhausen-Maleschau (born April 15, 1849 - † September 8, 1920) married Gabriele, daughter of Count Ferdinand and Countess Rosa von Spiegel-habenberg-Hanxleden (* November 15, 1854, † 6 February 1936).
  3. Karoline Ludovika (May 9, 1851 - December 15, 1929) married Count Eberhard von Degenfeld-Schonburg on September 29, 1879 (April 22, 1844 - May 21, 1899).
  4. Marie (born September 20, 1856 - † July 22, 1925) married Kurt Graf von Spiegel-habenberg-Hanxleden († January 1, 1916) on July 2, 1877. The marriage ended in divorce in 1910.
  5. Helene (born December 3, 1857 - † March 16, 1924) was a canoness in Brno and remained unmarried.
  6. Sophie (May 30, 1861 - October 24, 1937) remained unmarried.
  7. Friedrich X. von Dalberg , Herr zu Datschitz (* January 29, 1863 - March 9, 1914) married Karoline (* January 9, 1874, † November 13, 1935), daughter of Anton von Raab, on April 26, 1904, and Maria Ludovika von Bernhausen .
  8. Theresia Maria (born June 16, 1866; † May 23, 1893 in Vienna), unmarried and chronically ill. She wrote poems in a religious mood.

The family lived alternately at Schloss Datschitz and in a rented apartment in the Palais Kaiserstein in Vienna.

Act

Friedrich Ferdinand was lord of Datschitz and Sukdoll in Bohemia , of Maleschau in Moravia , of Wallhausen , Friesenhausen , Rodenbach and Erlasee . In 1852 he received the title of Imperial and Royal Chamberlain .

From 1881 he took a seat in the manor house of the Austrian Imperial Council , which was converted into a hereditary seat in 1907.

Friedrich Ferdinand was recognized as a natural scientist, especially in the field of ornithology . He was a member of the Vienna Zoological and Botanical Society and published articles in specialist journals. He had an ornithological collection, which came to the Iglau City Museum after his death , a mineralogical collection and a butterfly collection. The latter two stayed in Datschitz.

For the last four years of his life he was blind due to an eye disease.

He was buried at the side of his previously deceased wife in the old cemetery in Datschitz.
