Friedrich Ludwig Burggraf zu Dohna-Carwinden (* 31 August 1697 in Dresden , † 6. January 1749 in Wesel ) was a Prussian field marshal , designated Commander of Lagow and Amtshauptmann of Teidenburg- Soldau and Willemberg. In contrast to his relatives, he was more active in the diplomatic service.

Life

His father was Friedrich Christoph zu Dohna-Carimmern (* January 7, 1664 - July 20, 1727) and his mother Louise Antoinette zu Dohna (* October 1, 1660; † January 16, 1716). His older brother Carl August zu Dohna-Car winds became Swedish major general .

Dohna entered the Prussian military service in 1713 and on November 28, 1713 became a lieutenant colonel in the "Alt-Dohna" infantry regiment No. 4 . On June 13, 1723 he was promoted to colonel and in 1733 was appointed chief of the infantry regiment "von der Mosel" No. 28 . In this position he became major general on March 15, 1737 and lieutenant general in 1742 . The patent for this was dated June 9, 1741. In 1742 Dohna was appointed envoy to the Viennese court, where he remained until 1744. During this time he exchanged his regiment for the 44th Infantry Regiment . On his return he was promoted to General of the Infantry on June 11, 1745 and knight of the Order of the Black Eagle in September 1746 for his services .

On May 24, 1747, he received the dignity of field marshal and died on January 6, 1749 in Wesel.

Dohna was married to Countess Wilhelmine zu Dohna-Schlobitten (* July 8, 1697, † September 10, 1754) since 1721 . The couple had the following children:
