Christoph Friedrich Otto von Diericke (born September 11, 1743 in Potsdam , † April 17, 1819 in Berlin-Schöneberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and president of the general order commission and chief director of the war schools .

Christoph Friedrich Otto was the son of Kaspar Christoph von Diericke (* December 29, 1706 in Etzin; † December 27, 1757 in Breslau ) and his wife Rosine, née Burgenroth (* December 29, 1718 in Potsdam ; † April 9, 1780 in Koenigsberg ). His father died as a Prussian lieutenant colonel in the “Guard” regiment of his injuries sustained in the battle of Leuthen .

Lieutenant General Christian Friedrich von Diericke was his uncle.

Military career

Diericke was a cadet in Berlin from May 10, 1758 and was then hired on September 13, 1760 as a private corporal in the Infantry Regiment "von Canitz" No. 2 of the Prussian Army . During the 1760/63 campaign , Diericke was briefly imprisoned by Russia in 1760 and, after his release, participated with his regiment in the battle near Reichenbach, the defense of Kolberg , the battle of Torgau and distinguished himself through personal courage during the siege of Schweidnitz . On February 28, 1764, he was finally second lieutenant . During this time he trained at the university of his garrison in Königsberg. In the further course of his military career, Diericke was finally promoted to captain on June 11, 1777 and at the same time appointed company commander. As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession .

As a major (since August 2, 1785) he came on December 28, 1790 to Infantry Regiment "von Wildau" No. 14 . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 9, 1792. Six months later he became regimental commander and on January 24, 1794 a colonel. During the Kościuszko uprising in Poland, he was able to distinguish himself in the battle near Groß-Magnisczewo at the Orsitz. He occupied a strategically important bridge and the village of Groß-Magnisczewo. He captured a battery stationed there and captured a regiment of Poland including General Woitschisky. Diericke himself was wounded in the process. For this act he received the Pour le Mérite .

In 1799 he became chief of the "von Hausen" infantry regiment No. 16 . On May 20, 1800 he was promoted to major general with a patent dated May 26, 1800. In the Fourth Coalition War he led a division under Lieutenant General Anton Wilhelm von L'Estocq . After the Battle of Eylau , he received the Prussian king from Red Eagle , First Class and by the Russian tsar on May 5, 1808 Alexander I the St. Anne Medal First Class.

After the reorganization of the Prussian Army, he became chief of the 5th Grenadier Regiment . On September 17, 1808 he was appointed lieutenant general.

In 1809 he became governor of the royal princes and, in 1810, chief director of the war schools and president of the general commission. For his longstanding service, Diericke received the Order of the Black Eagle on October 31, 1813 .

He died on April 17, 1819 in his summer apartment in Berlin-Schöneberg and was buried in the local cemetery.

He was married to Antoniette Henriette Sophie Charlotte von Quotz from the Thierenberg family (* 1759 in Thierenberg; † 24 February 1797 in Goldap) since February 16, 1780 . The couple had the following children:
