Friedrich Scultetus

Friedrich Scultetus (also: Scholtz ; born November 1, 1602 in Seitendorf near Hirschberg , Duchy of Schweidnitz ; † December 24, 1658 in Wohlau , Duchy of Wohlau ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

The son of the pastor in Seitendorf and Kätzschdorf Friedrich Scholtz (1571–1648) and his wife Regina, the daughter of the merchant in Hirschberg Martin Hälke, had received their first training from his father and at the school in his home town. In 1611 his father sent him to school in Hirschberg, in 1620 he went to the Elisabethgymnasium in Breslau , where he earned extra income as a private tutor for a few years . In 1625 he moved to the University of Leipzig and moved to the University of Wittenberg , where, in addition to studying philosophy, he completed theological lectures with Friedrich Balduin , Balthasar Meisner and Jakob Martini . In 1627 he returned home, where he worked as a substitute for his father in the practical church service and in 1629 went to Wroclaw as a tutor for young noblemen.

In 1631 he became pastor in Groß Mertzdorf , took over the parish in Groß Schmellwitz in 1632 and fled to Schweidnitz from the military riots of the Thirty Years' War in 1633 . From there he moved to Breslau, in 1634 again to Schweidnitz because of the plague and carried out his office in Groß Mertzdorf with great difficulty. In 1635 he became a deacon of the parish church in Schweidnitz, had to emigrate to Breslau on imperial orders, became deputy headmaster of the school in Hirschberg in 1636, fled from there in the same year as a pastor to Herrnmotschelnitz and in 1649 became a pastor and senior in Herrnstadt . In 1654 he became superintendent in Ohlau , took part in the church visits there in 1656 and in 1658 he became superintendent in Wohlau, where he suffered a stroke and died on Christmas Eve .

Scultetus was married twice. His first marriage was in 1632 with Helena († March 28, 1636 in Breslau), the daughter of the pastor in Rudelsdorf / Brieg Joachim Weigel. From this marriage come a son and a daughter. We know of these:

His second marriage was on October 2, 1640 in Breslau with Ursula, the daughter of the councilor David Reisel in Hirschberg. There are four sons and four daughters from the marriage. We know of these
