Friedrich Wilhelm Felix von Schwerin (* May 6, 1740 in Potsdam ; † May 12, 1809 ibid) was a Prussian major general , commander of the Guard Regiment (15b) and heir to Wisbuhr and Grabow.

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm Felix was the son of Felix Bogislav von Schwerin (* 1701; † June 4, 1745) and his wife Friederike Sophie, born von Bredow († December 12, 1771 in Wisbuhr). His father was a Prussian colonel and fell as commander of the guard regiment in the battle of Hohenfriedberg .

Military career

On April 12, 1755 Schwerin came to the Brandenburg Knight Academy , the forerunner of the Berlin cadet school . As early as August 1, 1756, he was employed as a private corporal in the Guard Regiment of the Prussian Army . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Kolin , Leuthen and Torgau in the Brunzelwitz camp. At that time he became ensign on January 9, 1758 and second lieutenant on July 24, 1760 .

After the war, Schwerin became Prime Lieutenant on March 27, 1768 . On October 21, 1776, he was promoted to staff captain . He fought in the War of the Bavarian Succession and then became captain and company commander on August 5, 1779 . On March 22, 1786 he became a major . During the revue of December 5, 1786 he received the order Pour le Mérite for his services during the Battle of Leuthen. He became lieutenant colonel on January 14, 1793. Schwerin was still fighting in the First Coalition War and on January 15, 1795, he became a colonel. On February 1st, like his father, he was appointed commander of the guards regiment. On May 20, 1800 he was promoted to major general with a patent from June 1, 1800. But already on August 9, 1800 he received his resignation with a pension of 1000 thalers .

He died unmarried on May 12, 1809 in Potsdam.
